Part of the team

The best part about working in a virtual setting definitely has to be the different personalities that come together on a project. You can gain a friendship with people you'll most likely never meet face to face, collaborating on a like-minded goal from literally hundreds of miles away.

This was definitely true on a recent project. Teampages-- a site with the goal of bringing teams together to share stats, success stories, and more-- brought together a dream team of the web's top developers and innovators. We had the privilege of working with Josh Pyles of Pixelmatrix, Andrew Wilkinson of Metalab Design (who contributed some great design feedback) and of course the entire group from Teampages, who impressed us with their drive to create a dynamic community of athletes. Matt and I handled the full website design and contributed to the developement process.

Another perk to this particular project was the opportunity for me to design 19 sports-specific icons. Instead of going with the typical web 2.0 high gloss crystalized candy-like icon, I wanted to give these a grit and realism that set them apart from the masses, while maintaining the feel of the site. My favorite had to be the "Catch All," which needed to encapsulate a general sports feel (it was used for any other sport unspecified on the site). I decided to go with a sports bag filled with sports gear spilling out. Here's a sample of it and a few others:

You can check out a few more details about the project over here. Thanks again to everyone who contributed to the project. We had a blast.

Welcome to Littlelines.

We’ve spent the last few weeks finalizing the design on Littlelines, striking a balance between web 2.0 standards and an organic, fun aesthetic. It’s an evolving process, like everything on the web, but we’re happy with the results.

We’ve jumped right into the development scene, and it’s been a quick ride already with the projects (and happy clients) filing through our virtual doors with big smiles on their faces. Matt’s working wonders with Ruby on Rails (his specialty), Drupal and other such web treasures, and I’m hitting a stride in my graphics that’s as strong as ever.

It’s a pretty exciting time, and like a giant web 2.0 skyline, the future is full of bright, shiny, gradient-filled skies and lime green fields of grass.
